Plot[edit]
Between Earth and the real world beyond lie the Titan Souls, the spiritual source and sum of all living things. Now scattered amongst the ruins and guarded by the idle titans charged with their care, a solitary hero armed with but a single arrow is once again assembling shards of the Titan Soul in a quest for truth and power.
Gameplay[edit]
Titan Souls is a strategic, open world, 2D, top-down action-adventure, where the player has only one arrow and can only take one hit. The goal is to defeat the nineteen giant monsters called the Titans, which can, just like the player, only take one hit but only have one way to be defeated. During the fight, the player has to figure out how the respective boss behaves and by that find a way to defeat that boss. The difficulty is that the single arrow has to be charged to be shot and afterwards has to be retrieved to be reused, each action only able to be done while the player is standing still, making them an easy target for the bosses.
Development[edit]
Titan Souls draws inspiration from influences such as Dark Souls, Shadow of the Colossus and The Legend of Zelda.[1] The game was originally created for the Ludum Dare Game Jam #28 as TITAN SOULS, uploaded under the username Claw. The game placed first in the categories 'Overall (Jam)', 'Audio (Jam)' and 'Mood (Jam)'.[2] Over the course of six months, the game was ported from Adobe Flash to its new engine, enhancing graphics and improving performance, adding a new soundtrack and expanding the game from three to sixteen titans. In June 2014, Titan Souls was shown at E3 2014, revealing that the game will be published by Devolver Digital.[3] After E3, the game was expanded further with three additional titans and a story. On 25 March 2015, Devolver Digital revealed that Titan Souls will be released on 14 April 2015.[4] On 2 April 2015, the Game Jam prototype was remade in the new engine, adding better graphics, an improved soundtrack and new bosses, and a demo was made available before the full game release.[5] The game was ported to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita by Abstraction Games. The game was released on 14 April 2015.[6] Abstraction Games later announced that an Android port was also underway, which released 30 June 2015.[7]

Titan Souls received positive reviews. It received a score of 76.07% on GameRankings based on 14 reviews and 74/100 on Metacritic.[8][9]
Tim Turi from Game Informer gave the game an 8.5/10, praising the simple control, as well as the huge variety of bosses featured, high replay value, as well as the attractive and captivating atmosphere and environmental-design and the extra challenges for extending the longevity of the game. The inspiring boss-design is also praised. He also praised the music featured in the game, calling it 'a clever contrast to the pulse-pounding boss tunes' However, he noted that patience is needed in enjoying the game because the player will die very often in a playthrough. He summarized the review by calling a top down game with 'Zelda-style battles against a large gallery of tough bosses in the vein of Shadow of the Colossus.'[11]
Tom Orry from VideoGamer.com gave the game an 8/10, praising the game's artistic visuals, challenging and quality boss battles, rewarding gameplay, as well as the game's emphasis on skill. However, he noted that the game can be frustrating to play and that the limited world and exploration and the lack of an instant respawn option has dragged the game down. He summarized the review by calling the game 'a unique and memorable experience' and stated that the game is one of the most interesting titles he has played in 2015.[16]
Brandin Tyrrel from IGN gave the game an 8/10, while praising the game's checkpoint system, which saves the game from being tedious, as well as the endearing 16-bit art-style, responsive control and creative boss battles, he criticized the game for having generic and boring environmental design and for lacking randomization, which lowers the replay value.[14]
Arthur Gies from Polygon is much more negative about the game, calling the boss-fights anti-climactic, as well as criticizing the game's empty world, 'gibberish' boss description, basic puzzles and the control for being overly-simplistic. He also criticized the game boss battles for encouraging a repetitive pattern in defeating bosses.[15]

Once you've massacred the four starting area titans, plus another seven of your choice, the large stone doors to the north of the sanctuary elevator will open. Head on through, then climb the steps beyond, continuing north into the next area. Eventually, you'll reach another elevator, this one taking you to the sanctuary's upper level. Hop on and, when it comes to a halt, head north through the nearby doors. Next, make your way up the steps and head either left or right as the path splits.
Both directions take you out onto a rain-drenched platform. Activate the checkpoint glyph to the south, then ascend the steps leading to the large central area.

The battle against Gol'Set begins as soon as you reach the centre of the platform - so be ready for the creature's deadly laser attack, which thunders toward you almost immediately. Dodge out of its way and keep watching for the stone fists that home in on your position, attempting to crush you flat.

How to beat Gol'Set, the fist-pounding, laser-firing Guardian
The battle against Gol'Set begins as soon as you reach the centre of the platform - so be ready for the creature's deadly laser attack, which thunders toward you almost immediately. Dodge out of its way and keep watching for the stone fists that home in on your position, attempting to crush you flat.
After the initial laser strike, Gol'Set fires a second laser that sweeps in an arc from the left to the right, then a third that travels in the opposite direction. After this, the laser's attack pattern resets, so be prepared to roll out of the way when it fires towards you again.
Titan Souls Review
Your goal during this battle is to coax the two stone fists into slamming down on the buttons that lie to the east and west of the platform. If both buttons are pressed simultaneously, a mechanism triggers on the guardian and its weak spot is revealed. It's worth noting at this point that the right-hand fist will only activate when you're on the right-hand side of the platform, and the left-hand fist will only activate when you're on the left. You can use this to your advantage while setting about accomplishing your goal.
Begin by standing on one of the buttons until a fist flies overhead. Just as it starts its descent, immediately run to the other side of the area. If you're fast enough, the fist will deactivate and simply rest in place atop the button. You should repeat the trick to press the second button - and then be ready for several things to happen at once.
First, the guardian statue lowers and a circular hole on its body slides open, revealing the glowing weak spot within. At the same time, both fists will home in on your position, attempting to mash you to a pulp. Shortly afterwards, a powerful laser blast spews from the hole and, finally, the machine resets.
Titan Souls
In order to hit the guardian's weak spot without being squashed or fried, you should immediately roll into the centre of the area once the fist comes down on the second button. From here, roll north to escape the first fist that attempts to crush you, then roll north again to escape the second fist. That should place you directly below the glowing weak spot, giving you a minuscule amount of time in which to unleash an arrow shot before the laser fires. Do it correctly and victory is yours. Do it wrong and you'll be dead. Once the guardian is defeated, consume its soul to proceed.
How to kill the Soul, the game's final boss
Head north, climbing the newly revealed staircase, and continue into the next area. Activate the checkpoint glyph once you reach it, then make your way up the steps for the final confrontation.
To begin the sequence, launch your arrow at the swirling cloud of souls. Once it shatters, consume the scattered souls and watch as the main protagonist separates in two. Now, it's time for the human you to take on the doppelganger you.
Launch an arrow at the white figure in the centre of the platform to begin the battle, and be ready to dodge as it fires its own lightning-fast arrow at you. This is the creature's main attack and it continues throughout the fight. However, just like you, the Soul can only fire again once it has reclaimed its arrow - so use the moments between strikes wisely.
After the Soul's initial attack, four projectiles burst from its body. These begin moving to the north, south, east and west, but soon curve around and attempt to home in on your position. You should keep an eye on these throughout the fight, as contact with any of them is deadly.
To defeat your doppelgänger, you need to hit its real body with an arrow when it briefly separates from its soul form (look for the dark figure that intermittently zips away from the glowing white shape). You can either shoot the creature when it separates of its own accord, or you can force it out by flinging an arrow at its soul form. Either way, you've got a tiny window of opportunity in which to strike, so you'll need to work quickly to land a hit.

A word of warning: if you miss your target and fail to retrieve your arrow quickly, the Soul will attempt to grab it for himself. If successful, the creature launches the arrow back at you, causing it to ricochet off the walls around the room. You'll need to wait until it comes to a halt before you can collect it again. What's more, if your opponent's arrow is on the ground when you attempt to retrieve you own, both will be sucked towards you. Expect to die if the Soul's arrow strikes you.
Rob Papen himself called it ‘Cross-fusion synthesis' since it covered so much musical ground so effectively.Today BLUE-II remains true to that ethos with even more sound dimensions and features to its extended name, starting with six oscillators beating at its musically creative heart. First released in 2005 BLUE already reflected Rob Papen's cutting-edge, creative, and - most importantly - musical approach towards developing virtual instruments by first delivering FM and subtractive synthesis, then duly adding Phase Distortion and wave shaping synthesis into the highly creative mix to create one seriously creative combination. Rob papen blue ii v1.0.3a.
On the upside, once you manage to hit the Soul's exposed body, the battle - and the game - is over. Archicad 18.0.0.6000. Simply consume the creature's soul to bring proceedings to a close.
